Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what information aSpot collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. By using aSpot, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Section 01
Who We Are
aSpot is a product of REYCO Innovations. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at legal@aspot.app.
Section 02
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Profile information — your name and notification preferences, stored locally on your device
- Vehicle information — year, make, model, license plate state, plate number, and vehicle type, stored locally on your device
- Saved parking locations — addresses and labels you save within the app, stored locally on your device
- Saved parked car — the GPS coordinate and street name of your parked vehicle, stored locally on your device
- Parking spot reports — when you report a spot as available, occupied, or flag an issue such as a fire hydrant or construction zone
Information Collected Automatically
- Precise location data — collected while the app is in use to display nearby parking spots, provide turn-by-turn navigation, and show walking directions back to your parked car. Location is only accessed when you have the app open ("When In Use" permission).
- Approximate location — derived from your GPS position to query the OpenStreetMap Overpass API for real street geometry in your vicinity
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect or store your email address or any account credentials — aSpot has no user account system
- We do not collect payment information
- We do not collect data in the background when the app is closed
- We do not use advertising SDKs or analytics frameworks
- We do not track you across other apps or websites
Section 03
How We Use Your Information
All data aSpot collects is used solely to provide and improve the app's core features:
- Your location is used to center the map, load nearby parking spots, and provide navigation
- Your vehicle information is used to filter parking spots by vehicle type
- Your saved parked car location is used to show the parking banner and calculate walk-back distance
- Parking spot reports you submit help improve the accuracy of the crowd-sourced spot map for all users
Section 04
Data Storage
aSpot is a local-first application. The following data is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's UserDefaults system and is never transmitted to REYCO Innovations servers in the current version of the app:
- Vehicle profiles
- Saved parking locations
- Saved parked car location
- Notification preferences
- Profile settings
Parking spot data is generated in real time using publicly available OpenStreetMap geometry and is not stored persistently on your device or our servers.
Section 05
Third-Party Services
aSpot integrates with the following third-party services. We do not share any personally identifiable information with these services.
OpenStreetMap Overpass API
Used to load real street geometry for parking spot placement. Requests include a geographic bounding box of your current map view. No personal data is transmitted. Governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation's usage policy at openstreetmap.org.
NHTSA vPIC API
Used to populate vehicle make and model options when you add a vehicle. Requests include only the vehicle year, make, and type. No personal data is transmitted. This is a U.S. government API operated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Apple MapKit & CoreLocation
Used for map rendering, turn-by-turn navigation, and GPS location. Governed by Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Section 06
Notifications
If you grant notification permission, aSpot may send you local push notifications related to your parking activity. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device. No notification data is transmitted to our servers. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
Section 07
Children's Privacy
aSpot is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at legal@aspot.app and we will take steps to delete it.
Section 08
Your Rights
Because aSpot stores all data locally on your device, you have full control at all times:
- Delete your vehicle profiles — in Settings > Vehicles
- Delete your saved locations — in Plan My Parking
- Clear your saved parked car — tap Clear in the parking banner
- Revoke location permission — in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > aSpot
- Revoke notification permission — in iOS Settings > Notifications > aSpot
- Delete all app data — by deleting the aSpot app from your device
Section 09
Data Security
All data is stored on your device using Apple's standard UserDefaults storage, which benefits from iOS device encryption when your device is locked. We do not operate servers that store your personal data in the current version of the app.
Section 10
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this document. Continued use of aSpot after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will provide notice within the app where reasonably practicable.
